GRAND OPENING!

Well, Kory's new venture is officially open! He is now one of three owner's of a craft store...I know, Kory, crafting? It doesn't seem right!

Kory has always wanted to own his own business, and the obvious business venture would have been an auto body shop. But, the planets aligned, and his two good friends had this business plan right at the perfect time for us...so we decided it would be something we would want to pursue. So, Kory decided to devote his efforts all to this new store.

I won't go into all the details about the planets aligning, but this just felt right to us. The store opened last weekend and we have received so much support and positive vibes. The store is called Wood Creations; and it is all unfinished wood crafts, shelves, picture frames and supplies.

The last few months have been so hectic; with the last few weeks being the craziest of all. But, we are so excited about this store. Of course owning your own business is so much work and so time consuming, but we know the efforts will be worth it in the end. It may take many years to see the rewards, but I know it will be worth it. I haven't seen much of a Kory the last few months...we pass each other in the morning as we head out, but to get this up and running has required his constant attention. I remember my own dad working so hard to run his store, so I definitely realize all the hard work this is going to take. But, I also feel so much happiness seeing my husband so happy. He is doing something he loves, with people he truly cares about, and that is such an important thing. He was actually able to hire his brother, Brady, to work in the wood shop full-time cutting, and I know it means so much to Kory to have him there. The other day, all of the partners and their dads and the wives’ dads were in the shop working. I looked around and immediately became so emotional. Zed would have loved this shop, and would have loved to be working in it with Kory. I know he would be so proud him of him right now. Kory has Brady there with him though, so I think that makes it easier on him to have Brady to share it with.
So, the guys all cut the wood in the shop, and then there is an actual store front where the wood is purchased. So far business has been great and we are just so excited to keep filling the shelves. It's a scary, exciting, and exhausting new life we have, but it's so fun too. Our kids are going to basically grow up in this store...of course we pray that the store survives many generations. The kids run around like crazy maniacs when we are there, which is a bit unnerving, but I know they love it there.

So, that’s that. Here we go, off on this great new adventure. Wish us luck!
